- I am a disabled non-toxic Artist/Painter/Printmaker based in wilds of the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. UK.
After medical retirement I returned to further education to study art at the Gloucestershire College of Art and Technology and The Open University, then the Royal Forest of Dean College, followed by the Hereford College of Art & Design before gaining a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham.
I have worked as a community artist and in adult education and training in and around the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. At Cinderford Artspace he set up the non-toxic etching and printmaking studios and workshops.
At the present I am working from my own studio, subject matter evolves from my surroundings, childhood memories, illnesses, my vivid imagination and/or evolving from the process of creating. Working in a range of media on paper, board and/or canvas endeavouring to create work that has the composure, serenity and tranquillity, for which I am perpetually seeking, with the intention of encouraging a state of quiet reflection, contemplation and meditation.
Although my work has on occasion tended to lurch towards the nauseating and grotesqueness of pain sometimes that of my own or that of others around me. Producing a body of work that at times is both contradictory and paradoxical. Although emotive and sensitive the process of making the works has not discourage my urge or need to explore the darker more unpleasant aspect of my memories.
